TIPS FOR YOUR TRIP

How to prepare your trip to Lapland

… in winter

Winter in Lapland is quite demanding for the body. Thus we recommend you to make sure you are in a good physical condition when you come here. Walking, riding, playing outside by temperatures that can be from -10 to -30 Celsius degrees and with heavy clothes on: your heart needs to be prepared!
Children must absolutely be well dressed and they might not always be able to stay the whole day outside if the temperatures are really low.

… in summer

In summer the temperature is usually really nice here, from 15 to 25 Celsius degrees in average. You should still be prepared for all kind of weather: strong sun, wind, rain…

From June to mid-August, the insects are out! When in the forest, you have to be prepared for a few mosquito bites.

Nothing that long sleeves and repellant can prevent!

What to bring?

For all riding trips we recommend you pack

  • Riding trousers
  • Riding shoes with which you can also walk easily (2 to 3 sizes bigger than usual if you come in winter)
  • Thick socks
  • Good riding gloves
  • Headbands and/or hats
  • A woolen sweater and/or a fleece
  • A rain jacket and rain trousers
  • A swimsuit
  • Inside clothes and slippers if you like to wear some inside
  • Sun glasses
  • A head lamp

For winter we strongly recommend

  • Good quality thermal underwear (merino wool for example)
  • A second layer in wool or fleece
  • A breathable wind- and water-proof jacket
  • Woolen socks and gloves
  • Under gloves for the riding days (we will provide you winter riding gloves to wear over)
  • A thin but warm headband or hat to wear under the riding helmet
  • A pair of snow boots, snow trousers, a woolen hat and mittens for the spare time outdoors
  • No coton!

In summer you may add to your bag

  • Sun block
  • Insect repellant
  • Your sleeping bag
