Winter riding adventure

If your dream is to discover the Great North on horseback, this horse trek is made for you!

During this winter adventure we offer you:

A real adventure in the wilderness, just us and the horses
Various options: 2 or 3 days on horseback, a dogsledding tour or a visit at a reindeer farm
Local and traditional food at every meal

Day-by-day program

DAY 1

Arrival at Skellefteå Airport or Jörn Train Station. We pick you up and drive you to your accommodation.

If you come by train, a free ride is offered to you this afternoon!

We all meet during a nice dinner and we present the next 4 days to you. Night at the village’s old school.

DAY 2

Breakfast at the old school.

For this first day of activity you will discover our Icelandic horses and their specificities. You will get to know your companions for the next days during an easy ride in the forest, during which you will have the chance to try the tölt, a very special and comfortable gait. We come back at the farm for lunch.

In the afternoon we saddle our horses again and go discover more snowy paths. Once back at the farm, you can warm up with a traditional Swedish fika (coffee and home-made pastry).

Dinner and night at the village’s old school.

Other options for this day:

A visit to a reindeer farm, where you will learn about this typical northern animal and about the life of the Sami people. The day ends with a real Swedish experience: sauna and ice bath in the lake!

A real dogsledding experience, during which you will have the chance to drive you own sleddog team through the snowy Lappish landscape*

DAY 3

Breakfast at the old school.

We now go for a 2-day adventure! After breakfast we head up to the stables where we prepare our horses for the tour. When the horses are saddled, the lunch packed and the riders well dressed, we can start our long ride in the wilderness. In the forest, around frozen lakes… our gentle horses will bring us to beautiful quiet places.

After the ride we stop at our friends Rolf and Mathilda’s home, in Petikträsk, where our cook is waiting for us. We spend the night in the nice little red cabin while the horses get a nice rest in the barn.

DAY 4

Breakfast in the cabin. After saddling the horses, we ride towards home through marshy areas and between small frozen lakes.

Once back at the stables we thank our horses and let them rest after this adventure. We certainly also need a rest ourselves, which we take at the guest house around a filling dinner.
